Steve Betando has functioned as the superintendent of the Morgan Hill Unified School District (MHUSD) in California’s Bay Area since 2013. In this role, he collaborates with other school districts, postsecondary educational institutions, and education departments at the county, state, and federal levels. Before he assumed his current duties, Steve Betando served the MHUSD as an assistant superintendent of human resources.

An alumnus of California State University, Stanislaus with a master of arts in education, administration, and supervision and a graduate of San Jose State University with a bachelor of arts in psychology, Mr. Betando commenced his career in education as a teacher at Robert F. Kennedy Elementary in the San Jose area more than 35 years ago. After his departure from there, Mr. Betando operated in a variety of capacities. These include as middle school administrator with the Salida Union School District, a project coordinator, curriculum director, and assistant superintendent with the Stanislaus Union School District, and an assistant superintendent with the Fremont Unified School District.

Over the course of his career, Steve Betando has also led various workshops, seminars, and courses relating to work relations, employee documentation, and other topics. He taught graduate courses at the University of the Pacific and mentored educational executives across the United States. Moreover, he has earned several awards, such as California’s Personnel Administrator of the Year in 2006 and Elementary Principal of the Year for Region 7 from the Association of California School Administrators in 1997.
